UR Huye Amputee Football Team defeated Nyabihu 3–1 on 20 September 2026 in the third match of the second fixture of Phase One of the Rwanda Amputee Football Association (RAFA) National League 2026.
The league brings together teams competing in Rwanda’s amputee football league. Matches were held at Kigali Pele Stadium in NYARUGENGE District, with the University of Rwanda (UR) Huye among the participating teams.
The first day of Phase One was held on 19 September. UR Huye lost its first match against Rubavu 2–0 and later lost 1–0 to Kicukiro. Despite the loss, the team showed strong effort and determination. The players continued to fight and improve as they prepared for the second day of the competition.
On 20 September, UR Huye returned to the field and defeated Nyabihu 3–1. The victory showed the team’s determination and ability to improve after a difficult start.
Ezra Kubwimana, captain of the University of Rwanda Amputee Football Team, said that although the team did not secure all nine points in Phase One, they showed progress compared to the previous year.
“We secured 3 points only, but there is a progress and the difference we showcased compared to the previous year,” he emphasized.
Captain Ezra also said that the team will prepare for the next phase by increasing their efforts to score more goals.
“What we are going to do is have enough training so that the players can get to know each other better and, most importantly, put more focus on finishing and scoring goals because that is the main problem we have here. This will help us prepare for the next phase, where we hope to achieve better results. We will fight for all nine points and aim to win all three matches,” he said.
